Blower motor resistor. 10 bucks to fix and 10 minutes of work. I just put a new one in my 03 yesterday.

As long as the OP gets cold air in the summer, the source of the help is not important.

Oops - apologies.

I have also ordered in a new connector and blower motor to help mitigate the problem that much more. I bought the connector kit from this seller on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/281367678219...84.m1497.l2649

He is even going to assemble it for me The blower motor came from these folks:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/281345337483...84.m1497.l2649

For under a hundred bucks you can get a new connector (if your existing one is charred like mine is), blower motor and resistor. The resistor is 11 bucks from Auto Zone in the US:
