torsion/shackle lift
It doesn't matter if its a Dodge Ford Chevy or a Toyota, the differential is STILL the weak point for ground clearance. If you're looking for more ground clearance, you will need to do what has alrready been said. You will need to increase the ride height and put on bigger tires. There is a reason that monster trucks have such rediculous heights and tire sizes. You will not be able to clear a school bus with 16 inch rims and 30 inch tires.
I understand that the lowest point will always be the differential and the only way to raise it up is with bigger tires... I didn't think about that at first, but then again, I didn't know exactly what the lift accomplished.
The Chevy had 275/65/18's BFGoodrich All Terrain TA (KO). Seemed like pretty good tires on the truck. I never bottomed out in it. With factory size tires (I think 265/70/17) it had 8.7" of ground clearance.
The Durango looks like it had 7.9", I guess 0.8" isn't a lot, but you know what they say.. an inch is as good as a mile.
Now.. this is a 12 year old vehicle (13 model years I guess) so I'm guessing old age and mileage has made it 'sag' some. Will new shocks, ball joints, and some bushings help it out (along with the T/S lift and 32"s..lol)

t/s is torsion/shackle. The torsion bars up front set your ride height so by turning them tighter you can raise the front (no more than 8 turns=2in). The shackles on the rear are mounted upside down from chevys, so they will lift the rear by lowering the rear mounting point for the leaf springs. BL is a body lift. The name is pretty self explanatory, you lift the body off and put 3" spacers in between the body mounts.
To answer what you need. A t/s lift if the suspension is set to the factory height will barely clear a 33in tire and you will have to trim the plastic fender flare. The body lift will be best for a 33, but trimming will still be needed. You can do both for 5.5in and will clear real easy.
