Default Only third brake light works

2003 Dodge Durango. When pressing break pedal only third(gate) break light is working. Running lights, turn signals work fine, checked what fuses i could find and replaced all the bulbs still nothing. Going to buy a volt tester to check the wires in the morning. any other things to check would be appreciated, kinda lost on what to check. research is just repeating fuses, bulbs, brake switch just bought the vehicle dont know of past problems or repairs TY

If you have a trailer harness on your truck, check where that harness hits the rear harness. Known problem area for dodge.....

Toggle the hazard switch a couple times to make sure it's not miss-connecting a line.

Also check where the bulb holders make contact to the tail lights. Those things melt into the plastic sometimes.

I've also seen the whisker wires on the bulb melt into the bulbs plastic base and not make contact with the socket.

Yep, my '01 did that all the time. Finally went to pick-n-pull and got a good pair of rear light housings.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. Unfortunately i have found some other problems while trying to fix the brake lights, like dash lights and radio lights turning off when i turn on my headlights(headlights work fine). So i will just have to wait till i can take it to someone who knows what they are doing, its out of my knowledge and patience at this point.

Well i couldn't take it messed with the brake lights for a couple more hours and got them working will have to buy new housings and sockets here soon and they will be solid. If anyone has any idea what to check for the dash lights and radio lights shutting off when i turn my headlights on feel free to post it up, i'm not going to touch them unless someone has insight on the matter. I don't know where to start. TY to everyone that helped with the brake lights.

Have a look at the headlight switch, and its connector..... Dodge seems to have issues there....
