That is definitely sludged up. Have you dropped and cleaned the oil pan? Your pick up tube might have sludge blocking it. The 5.9 in truck didn't look anything like yours. Granted, it did have a flattened can of Schlitz beer and several oil soaked cigarette butts, but not much sludge.

I've had the pan off twice once just to clean crap out didn't realize I needed to start on top, then again cause I thought it was the oil pump but ur right it just might be the pick up screen and I put that maple syrup oil in it thinking that was the issue being worn.

Grab a FACTORY service manual for your truck. You can generally find them on EBay/Amazon for around 30 bucks.... and it will have TONS of useful information for ya.

I dug my manual out.

Intake plenum to intake is three steps. 24 INCH pounds, then 48 in-lbs, then 84 in-lbs. The intake is rather involved. Start in the middle and do bolt numbers 1 through 4 in increments to 72 inch pounds. Then 5 through to 72 in-lbs. Double check all bolts are 72 in-lbs. Then in order torque to 144 in-lbs. It's raather time consuming, but two years later, my intake is just fine.

One thing I did NOT do when I tuned my '96 up was pulled the distributor. Did you synchronize the injectors?

If you didn't check the pickup screen and you had crap in the pan it's probably clogged. And what weight oil are you using? If you moved or removed the distributor you need to set the fuel sync.
