Default Ginding Sound When Turning The Wheel

Hi there,

I recently purchased a 2002 Dodge Durango and am now hearing a grinding sound when I turn the wheel almost all the way to the right. It is extremely noticable when I am in reverse and turning the wheel. I've read other posts where the hear a ginding noise when in reverse. However, when in reverse I fine, its only when I start turning the wheel to the right. I do not hear the sound when I turn to the left. Any ideas? Is it serious? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, I have stock tires and rims. If I were to turn the wheel all the way to the right and then put it in reverse, it makes a heavy grinding sound. I just can seem to figure it out.

Ball joints are a big pain in the ***, before you have them do it goto the dealership there was a recall on the upperball joins an rearbrakelines for the 00-02 models, if it was not done during the recall the dealer will do it for free

ill do the same. just gotta call em n have em run the vin. jtuione....not sure what actually costs to have em done. im just paying for parts n go in after hours n he helps me do them myself...good friend to have is someone who owns their own shop n lets you use their stuff when you ask em.

but to make a guess..id say around 300-500 to replace the balljoints depending on how much trouble they have removing the old ones.
