the resistor is $14 from the auto parts store, which is fairly cheap the problem you may find though is that not only is the resistor burned out, but its also melted to the wiring harness plug making it so you cant disconnect the 2. you cant get the harness end of the plug at the auto parts store, its a dealership only piece. walk in the dealership with your hand over your *** because your about to get raped !! $75 is the damage for the harness!! you definitely need a 1/4 drive ratchet, with an 8mm swivel socket to remove the resistor from under the dash. you half to be part acrobat and not a very big person to get under there, youll have to be just about standing on your head to get it.

not sure where the resisitor is for the rear blower, but you can disregard 02durangosxt's comment he is referencing the location of the FRONT blower motor resistor, you are looking for the REAR blower motor resistor, not sure where it is, but there is a factory service manual available to download in the FAQ thread near the top of the first gen section page.

with how many views there has been on this thread , there obviously is a HUGE issue with this part on 1000's of dodge vehicles. there should be a recall and fixed correctly and for free by dodge,before something serious happens like someone dying because the blower motor resistor couldnt resist any longer and catches someones vehicle on fire.

 

the replacement part is a much better unit than the origional, so the problem has bee fixed in that respect should it be a recall? i dont think so, i havent seen the issue on anything except 01+ 1st gen D's and 2nd gen Daks, now i would also like to ask what you are contributing to this thread by posting this????? because i see now value to your post other than to raise your post count

 

It's a mechanical deficentcy that they go out. A simple bad design.


Recalls are only implimented if the deficentcy can cause an accident or fire. And with even that, the issue has to be well documented, confirmed by a government agency, wrote up, proven under laws, and then a recall can be ordered. There is none of that going on here. Just bad design.
