any one please help, no heat blowing in the front and cold blowing in the back, blower motor in the front not working, used to work at high only, now stopped all the way, changed the blower resister before, everything started working fine, one year later which is now again only worked at high speed now stopped all the way again, changed the blower resister, but this time nothing is happening, the blower is still not working, hot wired the blower and the blower is fine, so i think its the relay now, but cant find the relay for the front blower motor, this is for a 2001 dodge durango 4.7l please help thx.

Default no fan at all

I have not fan speeds at all. It stopped all at once. The fuses look good. It is still likely the resistor?

Fried wires between the fuse and resistor... When the resistor overheats, the wires will get too hot and melt together.

Default Well it was bound to happen

As a former owner of a 2001 Durango, I came to love it I bought a second one. One of the only problems I had was this STUPID blower motor resistor switch!! Replaced one in my old Durango, I became a veteran of replacing it. The first time the HIGH setting stopped working and only operated in low. Well now, this time it went out on low and ONLY operated on HIGH. Not thinking much of it, I would get a replacement when I got around to it, since it was Thanksgiving night. I wasnt in as much of a hurry this time cause I could still use the heat to defrost the windows fine. . . . So we were at the in-laws, after a great Thanksgiving dinner, and I went out and let the truck heat up for the kids and wife. After getting everyone ready we returned to my truck only to find it filled with smoke and a heaping glob of plastic, on fire, laying on my floor mat.

Quickly grabbing the floor mat out of the truck, I realized how THANKFUL I was that night. It could have happened while driving or could have really burnt up my truck had we not came out of the house.

PLEASE GUYS.. Dont make the mistake I made. If this resistor is giving you problems... get it fixed RIGHT AWAY!!

I really hope DODGE reads these threads and gets their head out of their a$$ before someone dies!! <end of rant>Name: DSC00720.jpg

So, I had the resistor problem last year and replaced it and it worked perfect.

Happened again this year and I replaced the resistor last night and nothing.

Can anyone give some advice on the ignition switch on the steering column being the problem and how hard of a fix it is? I'm no mechanic, but have a buddy who is and he's coming over tonight. Just wanna get it fixed before the Ohio winter kicks in full gear.

Thanks fellas.

Just an update for the wire harness and plug connector - I just found out my local O'Reillys carries the plug and harness for $40. It's stocked in their warehouse but usually available next day. I am posting the link to their online page for this part. Also called up to Autozone and Advance Auto to let them now that their competitor sells a much needed part that they dont. Hopefully all three will eventually stock it to bring the price down a bit more.

Good luck and happy hunting!
