It hard for me to tell, but if you look on the underide of the hood, there should be a white sticker. That will tell you the size of the engine.

what is the 8th digit of your vin number? This is what tells what engine you have.

if it says 5 or Z than its a 5.9 (5 is heavy duty, and Z is light duty...I think Z is for R/Ts...not sure)
if it says Y than its a 5.2

That is either a 5.2 or 5.9 from the pics. As stated above you can check it out to be sure of the size. I am pretty sure the sticker in the glovebox would tell you what engine you have as well as gear ratio and transmission type. Both engines are solid so it's all preference from there.

you could alway ask the owner, as stated only the 5.2(318)or 5.9(360) was available in 99

Didn't they offer the 4.7 in the early days (98-99) too?

I dont think they came out with the 4.7 till 2000 or 2001.

the 4.7 replaced the 318

I may be wrong, But doesn't the 5.9 have the radiator cap placed on the upper
radiator hose. My 2000 5.9 does. The pic shows the radiator cap on the radiator, so
(If my assumption is correct) it is the 5.2
