Durango Won't start
My sister has a 2002 durango and today she went to start her vehicle and it won't turn over, she has good voltage to the battery and tried starting it with a boost but the engine will crank but not turn over. any ideas?
when she turned the engine on she had the check engine light come on and it flashed 10 times, not sure what code this would be.
thanks for your help.

Jeffee:
On an 02, the mileage display (odometer) should say "pdone" if there are no codes stored. The CE light flashing though indicates something is amiss.
Try a battery disconnect reset by removing the negative terminal, and then depressing the brake pedal for about 30-45 seconds. Reconnect the terminal and try tofire it up.
Could be a computer glitch somewhere, and if so this should cure it. When you crank the motor, watch the tach and see if it moves at all. If not, could be crank position sensor, but that is not a real common issue.
Next would be lack of fuel or spark both of which will result in what you are seeing.
Give these a try, and get back to us.

Lack of fuel or spark. He is correct.
Fuel: Could be a fuel pump relay (swap it with one of the matching others and see if the problem goes away. Found in the fuse box under the hood), could be a bad fuel pump. Do you smell gas?
Spark: Could be a failed coil. Could be a loose rotor cap with moisture. Could be a cam position sensor.
Let us know how we can help further.

talked to my sister and she tried the fuel relay and it started but stalled out, she also disconnected the battery to reset any codes and there are non, so she put the relay back to the original place and the durango started up and then went for a little drive and noticed the durango was idling rough and almost stalling out. could this be a bad fuel pump or filter.
I noticed some post regarding the battery post being bad so I have her checking that out not sure what else to do.
Thanks for the help.

RE: Durango Won't start
This is not a question but a solution. Our company runs a 1999 Dodge Durango 5.9 V8, which was having problems starting. We have been online multiple times to see if others had a solution and we found that owners were spending 1000's $ trying to figure the problem out to no avail, replacing part after part.
The PROBLEM:
Drive the Durango shut it off - go to start and would crank only - leave it for a while - come back start right up. Check engine light came on stayed on, threw a P0340 code (according to manual and dealers - no Cam shaft sensor on this model - it was throwing a false code). Little by little problem got worse to point Durango would not start at all. Seemed like it might be factory alarm with engine kill.
OTHERS ONLINE TRIED:
Coil; Crank Sensor; IAC; battery replacement; new distributor cap, rotor and plugs; replacement and/or flash of PCM; Throttle Positioning Sensor; Fuses; amoung other items. Brought to Dodge they could not figure it out.
WE FOUND IT TO BE:
Distributor pickup which duals as a cam shaft sensor. This is located under the distributor cap. A $50.00 part solved the problem.
