so as some of you know my car has a lot of miles (about 250k)
so far the only modifications i put on my car helps it more than hurts it (cold air intake, bigger throttle body, exhaust)


since my car survived passed the waterpump blowing up
and it passed smog (surprisingly)
i was thinking about putting the pacesetter header on it
now i don't see how it would hurt the engine since it's helping air go out the engine
so if i'm wrong please someone correct me

and i was thinking about getting the mopar ecu
i know that would probably kill my engine since it inhances the fuel and air mixture and everything
but how long do you think the car will last?

That is alot of miles. I would be careful when you are wanting to do things to your engine. I would say just try and find a newer engine and drop that bad bay in or do some sort of cool new engine swap lol

 

i say save for a new block and pistons and then in the mean time mod what you have till you blow it up.

 

if its a tough motor,,ide say do it,,i had over 300.000 on my motor and it was still goin strong when i sold it!!!!and b4 i sold the car,i had bored intake,head,tb,and didnt have problems!!!!

 

haha yea i've been thinking about getting a new engine because i checked car-parts.com and there are a few SOHC for about 600 with less than 100k on them
i was just going to swap out the cams and put everything else back on

but there really is nothing wrong with the engine
its not cracked anywhere
everything that is worn has been replaced

and i have no money because i'm paying 300 a month for school


the last time we took it to dodge the guys didn't know how we kept it in such great shape for such a long time

If you're keeping up with the maintenance schedule, then you shouldn't need to worry about stuff breaking. The header shouldn't adversely affect the engine at all. I would, however, advise getting one that isn't Pacesetter. They have a horrible problem of cracking. If you'd like to gamble on it, that's up to you.

 

i heard that they were built better for the SOHC than for the DOHC
maybe you're thinking of the DOHC?

The Pacesetter has been dyno proven to show the best gains on the SOHC. The welds should be reinforced, but other than that....they are great.

 

I never said anything about gains or not. I was commenting simply on the durability of the header. Through my experiences, Pacesetter has been poor quality at best. This is the exact reason I said "If you'd like to gamble on it, that's up to you."

 

Durability on the header is great....their exhaust on the other hand is a POS.
