When I floor my Auto SOHC at 25mph its gonna wax your DOHC each and every time up until about 92mph when the tranny shifts into 3rd gear. I was neck and neck with a newerSuburu 5 speed and that is the only car that has ever gave me a hard time from that launch speed. I put a spacer on my intake and now My high range has imporved 25%, it will actualy reach 6,000RPM and still feel like its pulling hard.

Stock for Stock a Auto SOHC (Neon Sport) gets 16.2 1/4 mile and the RT DOHC 5 speed gets a 15.9, a good driver will make up the difference in the SOHC. Hence flooring the car in neutral and doing the drop will give you a nice off the line advantage at risking your tranny but it can be done. Even with those times I'd still be on your Bumper so you win by less than a car length.

The PCM alone will make the race even and the exhaust will give me the edge. I'm buying a DOHC PCM today and its go time with any DOHC who thinks the SOHC is a push over. If I cleaned my trunk out it would look bad for the DOHC lol

honestly, if your car hasent blown up already, it will.
if you want an off the line advantage, brake torque it, dont nuetral bomb it.
you are just like every honda driver out there trying to prove something.
a neon is a neon, i like my car, but its a neon. period.
your sohc auto will not come close to any mtx regardless of dohc or not.
dont act all cocky on a forum where no one is there to shut you up.

there is no possible way that a sohc auto can even come close to an r/t.....ive raced friends with sohc's and the have never been closer then 3 lengths behind me...

i would really like to see an auto sohc neon keep up with a mtx subie.....unless the subie driver cant drive

 

Dude, sorry slash, but, it is total bs. I own a atx sohc and it is dog slow, the 3 speed auto slows it down so much it is crazy. And there is no way in hell you were giving a 5spd subie a run for its money.
