Spud- I'm new here and haven't been fallowing your threads ( of to do a search now) about you issues but can I start by asking if you havecentral locking? At the point where I enter the conversation it almost sounds like an issue with the immobiliser.

Sounds like my ASD problem. It turned out being O2 wireing Bad Fraid!
A few things will trigger the ASD ( Auto Shut Down ) relay,it will cause No Spark, No Feul and it will close the port to the PCM ! Thus no OBDII readings at all.
Most of the time it is a blown fuel pump fuse under the hood.

Also I found that the PCM will turn off the port after a few seconds of the engine not running... ???

Find the No Spark!!! post if this sound close.
Or... Find a Neon book with the ASD relay circuit layout .I think it's the feul pump, 2x O2...

you need to slap yourself in the face... sit there a few min and think it out. ive been in your shoes plenty of times. make a check list or sumething of places and things you have checked. no sense of goin over thing more than once or twice. is you ignition switch working? like when you turn the key does it turn the gauges on or anything like that?

i actually had the same problem yesterday when i was moving my car around, i had moved it a few times already and when i got in it the last time it didnt do a dam thing. after a few min it started though

well i was messing around in the garage and realized that i dont have another engine harness that i can use....ends up the good one i had just so happened to be the same harness i was cutting all my plugs off of to use on the good motor.....so i guess i need to find another good engine harness....or doALOT of splicing with new wires[&:]
im getting sick of this and am seriously thinking about just scrapping the project and selling everything and just buying a 4 wheeler....but i guess that would be a worse idea then just trying to fix it[:@]

ok so here it goes
when i turn on the ignition everything works inside the car.....but you dont hear the pcm buzzing at all.....
i disconnected the engine harness and the pcm still doesnt buzz at all.....so the short shouldnt be there at all since it isnt hooked up...

the pdc has power going to it and comming from it...fuel pump fuse isnt blown....
the trigger wires from the pcm to thefuel pump and asd relaysdont have any power...(since the pcm isnt turning on)
it just seems odd that it all worked fine a few monthes ago when i drove the car into the garage....i reconnected everything that i removed from the engine harness and car, but it didnt make any difference....ive traced every wire as far as i can and havent found anything..
even if i bypass the fuel pump and asd relays i still cant get the pcm to turn on....it just doesnt make any sense[&:]
ive had these kinda problems before but replacing the engine harness has always fixed the problem....

if i cant figure it out then im just gonna part out my work car in a week or so and use all the wire harnesses from it to replace the ones on the r/t....i was just hopeing to sell the work car caomplete..

im not entirely sure what the sentral locking is....so i cant tell you the answer to that

i can understand the pcm turning the obdII port off after a while.....but what if the pcm never turns on in the 1st place????
i have a haynes manual that breaks down the asd and fuel pump relays.....ive followed every wire and have always ended up at a dead end

i guess that what i really need to find out is how the wires run....
ignition....pcm.....asd/fuel pump relays
or
ignition....asd/fuel pump relays....pcm

im just having some troube finding out if the pdc relays turn on the pcm or the pcm turns on the pdc relays
tomorrow im gonna replace the engine bay harness and see if it fixes anything....if not then im probally gonna give it up for a few days[:@]

I do not know if things are differant over here butI have a key fob that unlocks the doors on my Neon it is also part of an alarm / immobiliser and it is standard on the Neon from Chrysler.Do you have one and if so is it working?

Hey spud, do you have the FSM for the 1st gen neons?? If not, let me know and I will get it sent to you. They have *ALOT* more detail about pinouts, wiring diagrams and everything than what the Haynes does... I barely touched a haynes with my swap... And I am with everyone else. Sit it out for a day or so, take your woman out to a movie or something, get your mind off it.. If you keep trying to figure it out day in and day out your going to burn yourself out and get frustrated... But let me know about that FSM
