Hello I'm new and doing some research on possible making a neon into my next race car. Can you swap a sohc to a dohc if so is there a how to on here to do it? Thank you very much

yes you can do a search on the fourms you will get a bounch of info on it you can also put it the srt-4 motor with enough work but putting a dohc won't do to much if you realy want to race it i say turbo the sohc andbeat their cars and say you got beat by a sohc it hurts way more lol and the other swap is the 2.4 engine just some ideas

 

Yea the Dohc only adds a few more horse. I like my Dohc but if I had a Sohc and wanted to swap for a faster engine I would either do the 2.4L swap from say a 95-99 stratus/breeze (more cars also had this engine, just an example) as it is a relatively cheap swap that has a great how-to. Or if I wantd to spend more money swap in the SRT-4's 2.4L Turbo engine, more work but again, great how-to's.

Thanks for the replies guys I run a 1/3 oval ashalt track and can't run a turbo so its gotta be a sohc or a dohc. I'm looking at a sohc now from junk yard and if that motor is no good I was thinking of dropping a dohc since it might need to be replaced anyhow just checking my options. Is there a how to for the sohc to dohc and would there be much diff if it is a 2 or 4 door

 

yes there is a how to some where and 2dr and 4drs are the same

 

motor - computer - wire harness helps - dont use an automatic unless you have to, if you use an auto your better off with a SOHC and a 95 cam.

hey just in case your interested I have a 97 DOHC motor for sale..I have the harness, pcm, and motor..it only has 74k on it no smoking or leaking and ran fine when i took it outta my friends car...i also have a underdrive pulley for it..I'm asking $500 for everything..if interested pm me
