I am pretty sure that the heater core doesn't need to be charged as it takes heat from the care, The A/C on the other hand can be recharged. and that you can do by yourself at least I did with one of the cans of freon from O'reilly.
ok well the shop im taking my car to says this "well it will cost $300 for the time $100 to recharge it and then plus the cost of the heater core"
which the cheapest heater core ive found is for $70

so it doesnt need to be recharged.. hmmi think ill just try to do it myself then... and i have the manual so it should help me out some.. and i can save myself $400

unless they are ripping you off and calling torecharge is to refill you rad back up with water and antifreeze because that is what runs through the heater core. Basicly it is just a small rad. If it is the evaporater core for the ac the system will need to be completely discharged and then recharged after repairs are done.
