alright, so igot alot of questions lol
1. what are the gear ratios in a SOHC transmission and a DOHC transmission?
2. whats so different in the ACR neons?
3. my fuel pump jus went out and i was considering an aftermarket one, how big of a difference would that make?
4. i also want to do a 2.4 stratus swap... any of you guys ever do one?

why a 2.4 stratus swap do it right and do the srt 4 swap will save you the money in the long run besides you will be disappointed

if you have an r/t the gear ration is 3.94 final drive
acr theres nothin really special other than suspension other than that they are like an r/t with NO options
after market fuel pump im not to sure about
if u want to 2.4 stratus swap ur car talk to me about a motor

 

with a non turbo motor, an aftermarket fuel pump really wont serve much of a purpose
the sohc ratio is 3.55....dohc ratio is 3.94

 

not all gear ratios in dohc are 3.94 though spud.
the cars that have that gear ratio tranny are the 95 dohc sport coupes, r/ts and all acrs
i would know all about that tranny as i went threw hell trying to find one again.
luckly i bought one from some dumbass kid taht was 2.4 swapping his rt and i bought it from him the day he was doing
the swap and the next day i heard from him again and he said that the 2.4 had a rod knock, and the tranny slipped.

Acr's also have the 140 speed limiter and the quick steering.

 

wow, you guys really know your **** haha, aerorat i would love to do an srt swap but i dont have that kind of money... i can get as many 2.4 stratus motors as i need for like 400 bucks a pop (i work at a junk yard). i also have two extra DOHC motors, and i dont know what one to do 2.4 swap or build one of those motors. so many possibilities! hahaha

 

Cory Haines the Operations manager at modern performance has a 95 NYG that has a 2.4 swap in it and is pushing just over 200whp on a dyno NA. It's a pretty striaght forward build that can be done a little at a time. However he does run 10.5:1 compresstion witch means your going to have to send your block off to a machine shop get it checked out decked honed and possibly bored he has his bored 20 over and then decked .010. So just guessing he's probally right around 10.8:1 compresstion. And the rebuil kit will run ya 1399.99 plus probally about 200-300 to get the block done...then he also had his head c&c machined ported. Looking at about 750 for that (just guessing on the port price, since it is done with a c&c) Had a custom long tube header. So bacicly you could start out with just a 2.4 swap it will give you a bit more tq but stay right around the 150 stock mark - 30 or so hp due to age. Then get a second block you have so readaly avaliable to you and send it off for the machine work. Save for the internals. get them installed. and just put a cleaned up stock head on it. This will acually give you nice gain by itself. then save up for the smaller stuff, ie...60mm throttle body, cams, cam gears, long tube header ect. get that all in and by the time you have this all done you should know enuf about your car to know what you need next...
