if your not planning on going turbo, and just want either the Dohc or the SOHC, get either the AF/x PCM or the Mopar Performance PCM. those are straight plug and play. and no, AEM, nor Megan makes PCMs for the Neon...nor "chips".
ok well i was going to build a mega squirt. but what one should i use and what items are a nasetity to have?and my neon is atx so i got to leave the old computer in to control it? help me out here.
i have sohc now if i want to go dohc and i buy a afx i cant get it reprogrtamed can i?? so can i run a dohc pcm from afx on a sohc untill i can aford to build a 12 to 1 comression and dohc heads all done up?

Ok heres the deal.... MS will control your auto... if you build it hp will come... lol had to do it.... however you must be very very knowledgeable about every aspect of a gasoline engine theres no room for error, however they have made it better now with there .v3 where if you happen to tune it to the point of being lean and if the a/f ratio goes to a predetermed point it will make the neccicary corrections to bring your a/f up to a safe level... it isent plug and play but if you have a good engine wiring harness diagram and your able to read it well then you should be fine....
The af/x does make a auto version for your car... but as far as putting a DOHC computer on a SOHC neon your flipping mad... the af/x dumps tons of fuel, like say goodbye to gas mileage if you have a hevey foot... if you added a dohc you will have gas coming out your gas tank... you will have to remove your cat due to how much the race pcm advances your timing it will burn your cat down to the ground... so if you live in california or any other state that you have to get inspected... your screwed... The nice thing about the af/x computers are they have the ability to re learn your driving habits and make corrections to what your doing... heres the description of the race pcm...
Race computer specifications:- 7800 rpm redline (maximum possible!)- Totally new spark and fuel maps- Automatic speed control may be set up to 120 mph (if so equipped)- No mph cutout whatsoever- Able to use aftermarket coil and/or ignition system and not turn checkengine light on. Great for drag-race type "staging" systems.- Does not go excessively rich at top-end to "save" the catalytic converter, resulting in vastly improved maximum vehicle speed.- Significantly de-sensitized detonation sensor for use with noisy valvegear, header, etc.- calibrated for use with header and no catalytic converter. Does not readthe downstream O2 sensor, which may be disconnected w/o turning on checkengine light. May melt down a catalytic converter if used!- Best results obtained with uprated cam (Crane #16 or more), head work, larger throttle body, ported intake, etc.- Ability to use aftermarket coil and/or ignition system and not turn checkengine light on. (Year 2000 computers only).- Typical flywheel HP increase 15 - 44 HP (depending on other mods)- Warning: at the RPM this unit is capable of, you should have 2001-uprocker arms / lash adjusters (DOHC), and stiffer-than-stock valve springs toprevent valve float and resultant damage!- Requires 93 octane fuel (at altitudes up to 4,000 ft.) or octane booster.More octane required with compression increase.- Very wide ability to adapt to modifications as you make them.
however they are very expensive... I see used ones go for around 330 or so but they go fast. And since you dident mention what year neon you have I want to remind you that they do not make a af/x for a 95.

heres the best place for neon guys to get a MS... they have a super 420a version.... I know we literally dont have 420a's but its the same thing... other then the head..
