See this is what people dont get...

I want to do this to challenge myself, I know that a turbo is more efficant and that in the long run that a turbo neon running the same boost would be all over me...

I just want to be able to say look I wanted to do something different, I perservered, I compleated what I wanted to do, and people will repsect the work that was put into the car and the fact that I was able to do it.... Who really cares what it will do in the quarter mile, I sure dont. Doesent mean im not going to have to find out due to so many people freaking asking.

Whats so wrong with wanting to challenge yourself... I dont get it... I know it's not the best choice for a fwd car, I know it takes hp to make hp with a SC, Hell I even know after studing this (most important part) that it will take 44 hp to run the supercharger, it will make 143 kilowats of power, it will flow an extra 319cfm of air after the engine has reached 100 Volumetric Efficency, resulting in 5.1 psi of boost, and that at 7200rpm the charger will be spinning at 9040 rpms well within its 14000rpm redline. And I will be sitting pretty at 192hp...

If you cant allready tell im serious about this...

not to start a fight or anything but when sky perry made 6sic6's kit it only cost him 1450 bucks including the Megasquirt.... I say thats cheaper then a turbo kit... it will cost me far less trust me... I am keeping track.

44 hp sounds a little high, I would imagine it would be more in the 15-20 hp range needed to run it.

I made my own turbo kit for $200, and could have bought one for $500. Thats cheaper than $1400.

The Turbo engine may make more overall power when comparing boostatthe same PSI vs a BlowerBUT THE BLOWER WILL MAKE INSTANT POWER WITH NO SPOOL TIME OR LAG! which may be enough to kill equally equiped vehicles with turbos in the Quarter Mile.

44hp to run it... I have a nice little program that does all the math for you, you enter the size of the motor, max rpm of the motor, what psi you want to run and the type of supercharger it is and it will tell you everything you need to know math wise it even tells you what supercharger is best application for what you want to do...

15 at the most. 15hp to run it is avery generous high end estimate. Blowers on the V-8s only take 10. Its all about where you make your power, so a Blower Equiped engine might make more power throughout the power band rather than peak power.

So lets put this into simple terms, for example ifYour Blower takes 15hp to run vs the Free power From the Turboand your power band starts at idle to 6,000 Rpm. With a Turbo ifyour powerband starts at 2000-6000Rpm the blower has that 1,000 Rpm advantage and whatever it takes to run the blower is made up in instant power, so due to Turbo lagthe turbomine as well not have that power advantage because of it lacking bottum end. A Blower Makes more over all power even though it may not make the most peak power, and when dealing with 2 Neons with the same gear ratios and everything except the only difference is the method of forced induction the BLOWER will make more outof the Gears and Engines powerband due to it not having low endlag. For this reason thats why Top Fuel 4 second performers use Blowers because a Turbo that can produceequal power at the same PSIwould take forever to spool in 4 seconds.

With all due respect to you, your program is full of ****. No way in hell it takes that much. I garentee your Alternator,Air Conditioning, and espeically POWER Steering take more to run than a Blower, Take the alternator, power steering and air conditioning away and you barely gain 10-15hp.

Have you ever spun a rebuiltblower? theyare very well balenced and smooth and you breath on them and the rotors spin, sure under boost this compresses but I find it hard to believe that it takes more horse power to spin the blower than it takes to move a 2800lb car. Total bull ****.

i 100% agree with this statement!!!!! i honestly did not know a ton about turbos when i did my kit, but the nice thing about this forum and 2gn is that for the most part u get good responces, sometimes in a round about way with people argueing or what not, but i can open my hood when my car is all done and say "i did this MYSELF" and that is more inportant to me than my quarter mile time, even though i like to talk about that to

if i do decide to do this twin charged setup i am going to have the exact same outlook on it, but i will be betting that it will be slower than my 02... and that is ok by me to..... keep us posted on how it all goes... i am kinda curous how u will have the room and keep the stock radiator...u will maybe have to share with me if u find a way

that brings up another thing..... has anyone hear of a twin charged neon??? i dont care if people think it is pointless or dumb, just has anyone ever hurd of it being done on a neon??????

he thinks he is so smart, and if that is true then why the hell does he drive a 3.5 charger????
its his moms car....thats why...

it took me a total of about $800 for just the necessary parts to build the srt4 turbo....i like the supercharger idea though....
but i will wait to supercharge anything until i get either a dakota r/t or an impalla ss
