He is trying to figure out how to tell how fast a car is by looking at the amount of hp a car has divided by the weight. Then the will tell you how much horsepower per pound your car has. So for example. 2500/130 is 19.2 pounds per horsepower. or 130/2500 is .052 hp per pound of weight. Lets say a camaro at 3500. 3500/lets say 400 would be 8.75 pounds per horse. or 400/3500 is .11 hp per pound so the neon would have about 10 more pounds to pull for each horse power. or have .05 less horse power per pound. Something like that right?

You could only accurately figure that out if you have the engine dyno'd. As we all know the DOHC never put out 150 HP to the wheels, so the numbers could be misleading.

Anyways, just do the swap and race'm. No point in wondering who will win a race....only one way to find out!!!!

ok you say they were overrated but what about the dohc 2.4 is that the same cuz i know the torque is alot higher then the neons 2.0 dohc but the hp is like 150

THIS IS TO THE CRANK

and im figureing this

Mopar pcm____8-10 to the tires so i think like 16-20 to the crank?
Udp____5hp
2.0 cams____5hp
larger Tb&spacer ____5hp
CAI____5hp
Free Flowing Exhaust___10hp

what is the Weight to hp ratio,,, i was told that its weight/hp but that would be how many lbs per 1 horsepower i want to know how many hp per one lb.. i was thinking hp/ weight but it doesnt seem right...

ok so this kids mom has a v6 grand am gt and he says it will walk all over my car once i have the swap done.. and im not sure exactly what the 3.8 has but even if its that im figureing about that much hp with my swap.. because of bolt ons.. but he says he will win becuz its a v6 and mine is a 4 banger.. but if i have the same amount of hp and im lighter..lol hes an idiot

so how much hp does it take to stand up to a 500 hp camaro.. im not sure there weight but i was just curious with our light cars how much hp doe we have to have to run with it i was thinking like 270 or so cuz of weight but i dont know if that matters with the v8s or watever they are

Your going to need more than a near stock 2.4 to take a 500hp Camero. More like a Turbo Nitrous and Slicks and you might have a shot at takin him out.

Once you have the power you need to hook it up and use parts that can handle that power. Like... Better Axels which cost around $1000 Your not gonna launch worth a fk on stock Axels with a 300hp motor and the one time you will you'll snap them.

I'll give you an idea of the Neons weight and my brothers 1969 Camero's weight, the Camero weighs 3100lbs and it has a full frame and 4 link suspension. The Neon weighs (at least mine does) 2600lbs. My Brothers 550hp 327Camero does ahigh 11 second quarter mile and a 225hp Neon will do a somewhere around a 13.9. With slicks you might be lucky to get 13.5. I don't think your chances look good aginst 500hp, Your gonna need a Turbo,Nitrous, beefed up Axels and some slicks if you want to talk some **** to the 500hp Camero guy.

As for the V6 Grand Am Race, I say you own him. The 3.1 GMV6 is really a slouch when comparing displacment and power, the 3.1 V6 has 150hp andhas exactly 1.1 liter advantage on the Neon 2.0, the Neon 2.0 anyway you slice it with the DOHC and SOHC make 140-150hp missing 1/3rd the displacment of theV6 and coming within a few Hp. The 3.1 V6 Grand Am runs a 16.5 Quarter mile a SOHC Neon Highline will run 16.3.

Cars with the 3.8 do between 15.5 and 15.9, Your Neon will own him if you have a few small mods. I know of 1st Gen R/Ts doing 15.3 with just a header and cold air intake and good driver.

It isn't RICE MATH! Each part won't add that much HP.

those are very small estimates.. not even close to what the package says..

on the tb spacer it said it would add 20 hp.. which we all no is nto true

those are all really small estimates. and some are rounded up

and the mopar pcm tell you how much it adds to the tires

the tb i was thinking like 3 hp

CAI everyone says it adds like 10-15 hp and i said 5

free flowing exhaust is more likely 8

and headers prolly 5

those are all bare minumums i would think thats taking the package hp and cutting whay the hell down

i would guess sumwhere between 10-12 hp......maybe...

watch out for some of those grand ams....
my ex girlfriends mom had a 2002 grand am se....that damn car would walk all over my old 98 r/t.....

you would need alot of power to stand up against a 500 hp camaro.....more then 270 atleast....
a weight difference like that would make a slight difference, but you still need to figure in the gearing and torque......

my red r/t was able to beat a Z06 corvette......but that was running 18 pounds of boost and more then 270 hp
even with alot of really hard launches, i am still running the stock axels that i used back then
