Default consistant squeeling

Every time i start my car, turn my wheel, hell at almost all times while driving....i have this squueeling noise. However...i know the timing and power steering belts were both replaced 3 weeks ago (by someone else). What could be sqeeling now? and how can I verify...without going to a shop. let me know... thanks!!!

most likey you alt belt is loose or slipping, you can do three things

1 get a bar of soap and hold it on the belt while its running. soap should help the grip for atemporary fix. if it stops squeeling then is def a loose belt.

2. buy a can of belt dressing and spray it on your belt. also a temp fix

3. tighten up your belts

EDIT payspecial attention to the power steering belt as that would be most likey to slip when you are turning

I have the same thing only for a couple of seconds on cold starts. And as the previous person I had all belte replaced along with timing. Also is that hole in the top of the timing belt cover supposed to have a plug in it or is it supposed to stay open?

pic of timing belt cover. It should have an inspectionplate that you can take off,no sure if you would call that a plug.

over time if the belt is slipping alot it will start to loose rubber thus causing it to slip more. sometime you can see pices of rubber by the pullys

EDIT if your timing belt was sliping you would have much bigger problems. Such as car running rough or not at all and in some cases bent valves.

mine is a 97 with SOHC and the timing cover looks different from that one pictured. However looking at the pic you have , the open hole looks about the size of the round part to the far right of the cover pictured. This one is also more laterally oval and mine is moe rounded straight up.

yes the one in the pic is from a DOHC, SOHC also has a inspection plate that can be removed. Its not needed but does help keep things clean inside and that canhelp the time belt last longer.

i had the same squeeling...gradually getting worse over the months and two weeks ago it started doing it..pretty much every time i slow down, speed up, turn the wheel. Had my dad look at it and he told me it was a belt...so he put some WD40 on it...but next time i started the car it was back. Went to get my tranmission flushed and mentioned the noise to the mechanic so he said he'd take a look....he came back saying it was the power streering PUMP...haven't got that fixed yet...but it might be something for you guys to look into.

okay dont let your dad fix anymore things for you and i would say loose belt try tighting the belt its fairly simple actualy just a pain because of all the stuff in the way. get a second opinion about the P/S pump
