ok me and my buddy from down the road bought this car
99 2 door black rt w/ 2.4L motor swap





it was for sale on the other forum, $300.
it has a flawless wings west body kit
a set of 15" motegi rims & a set of 15" american racing rims
sts, aftermarket wing(gay)
that obserd paint job
an aftermarket tach & air/fuel gague

we went halves, so its not much money for me to lose
will will part out what we dont want, so if you have reqests pm me

the thing has a 2.4L DOHC motor from a 2000 stratus w less than 20k on the motor
it had upgraded bolt ons and upgraded internals, no boreing or porting thought
BUT
the motor doesnt run, hasent since 2004, and the guy just wants to get rid of it

me and jared want to rebuild the motor.
modern has a complete rebuild kit for a 2.4, but it looks lke it only includes block not head components

want some input as to what should be done to it to rebuild it, it was once a low 14s n/a car

 

you need to find out whats wrong with it first...

does it get fuel, spark, compression??? bent valves... find out whats wrong... first... then let me know.. does it turn over??? does it crank... make any noise???

I wouldent rebuild it if it allready has built block... just find out first you may have a gem...

dude this honestly sounds like an easy fix... I would start checking the electronics, grounds, see if your getting power to everything... the injectors... blah blah blah....

does it turn over...

you would have one hell of a runner there if you could figure it out...

 

i have a guy i talked to about it
he sayd it sounds like he broke the timing belt downshifting and maybe bent a few valves

but wouldnt u p&p it?
or get overbored pistons?

how much power would a 2300lb neon have with a worked 2.4L in it?

 

If the timing belt snapped he would have heard something go boom in a big way but I seem to remember the 2.4 being non-intaferance motor...
just check threw the inspeciton window...

depends on how "worked" it is... Jeff B, the maker of booger bushings, has a 2.4 NA that runs 12.3 qm's and that was on the crane 24's now he has 28's... lol

it all depends... also I've read of someone putting up to a 150 SHOT of nos to a stock 2.4 and had no problems running 12's on a 2.4 with crane 14's and the regular bolt ons...

 

It honestly sounds like electronic... if it just died... I would check voltage at the coil pack middle wire to see if it has power check the fuel by taking the fuel line off the fuel rail and sticking it in a mtdew bottle and see if gas comes out when you try to start it...

check to see if the injectors are pulseing... just get a long screwdriver and put it to the injector while trying to start it and see if you hear a clicking noise... it will be a constant click...

Does it turn over... lol
