a relay is an electronic switch, when current is applyed the large coil it produces an electromagnetic field that pulls the silver part of the relay closed. when this happens it send 12 volts to the starter solenoid until you relese the key from the start position.

pic shows the direction of movement when power is applied in black, red is forthe contact point.

you have two problems for some reason the starter isnt working correctly and your relay isnt reciving current from the ignition switch.

Whats bump start?

Ok so I read all that, but it still doesn't help me really.

What are the peice/s inbetween my key and the starter relay?

I thought about this last night, the relay is getting power. I know this because when I push the silver part in, the starter is clicking. So that means the starter works right?

Next, somewhere, where the relay plugs into that black box is a wire that I guess comes from somewhere in the ingition system, that tells the relay it has power and to transfer that power to the starter. Thats the thing that I beleive is wrong. Now going with that, that wire would be from the ecu correct? Which would mean something is wrong with my ecu.

Also whats that wire thing that comes out of the ignition switch? Its more like a cable I guess. Where does that connect into?

I think I might just go pick up a ecu and if it doesn't work I only wasted $15.

Thanks Again.

how to bump or roll start a MTX
http://www.wikihow.com/Push-Start-a-Car

What are the peice/s inbetween my key and the starter relay?
the first peice is the ignition cylinder for you key (rotating switch) after that you going to have to get a wiring diagram for your car(year) to determine what activates the coil in the relay. this is problem #1

when I push the silver part in, the starter is clicking.
the starter should trun the engine when you do this. problem #2

pic below shows starter relay port. When the blue wire gets 12volts it activetes the coil and pulls the relay shut. Whenthis happens its sends power to thestarter solenoid.

Its more like a cable I guess
the redcable that connects to the starter should have 12 volts 24/7, this is the main power supply for the starter. There is anouther small wire black wire with a grey connector (could be different coler on your car) this is wire for the starter solenoid. that wire truns the engine.

Well I just called a dodge mechanic. She was very very vauge and wouldn't really help me. What I got out of it was for problem 1 it could be 2 things. First it could be a wire is lose or cut running from the relay to the ecu, or it could be the ecu itself. The second thing she wouldn't really say. The car could just need a re- flash.

As for the starter, she said the starter could be a dud.

But if I took the car in it will cost $115/hr and will most likly be a 2 hour thing. Plus the cost of a tow. ><

Still waiting on the ecu. But I got the brand new starter installed. And when I push the relay in it does the clicking thing again....

the starter lookes like its wired correct. The grey spade connecter is forthe stater solenoid

the yellow gunk is an special electorlyte grease that helps keep water form corroding the connection

any dealerjust wants you to give them the keys so they can make some $

Well I finally tried a new ecu and it didn't work.

I'm down to my last 2 options.

Either its the flywheel (which I highly doubt, because my old starter gear looks brand new).

Or my engine is seized.

So that brings me to my new question. Where is the crankshaft bolt? Is it hard/tight to get to? Is their anyother way I can check if my engine is seized? I really should just buy that damn haynes manual.
