Got some bad news today
Went and got my flat tire fixed today and had the mechanic check out my car and see if the bearings were bad. He drove it and says he thinks both sides are bad and i found out it's gonnna cost me between $550 and $600 to have them replace both sides. So that sucks...
hell do them yourself. you will save a hell of a lot of money even if you have to buy a few special tools to do them with... and we are talking aobut wheel bearings right?
I took it to a second shop and they told me only one side was bad and that it would be $300 max. so i'm going with them. I live in the dorms at school and can't do it myself... yes, the wheel bearings.
damn...$300????
i guess im drastically undercharging when i do work like that....
around here it costs $30 for the bearing and then $10 to get the new one pressed in...
$40 total and about $20 for me to do the labor

He said it is $156 for the bearing assebly (have to get the whole thing), $104 for labor, $5 for parts, and $40 for alignment. He said when he gets it all apart he might be able to just replace once bearing and it would be like $75 less. Otherwise they have to replace the whole assebly.
you can get a whole bearing/hub assenbly from autozone for $72......
$156 is rediculous....you better hope its gold plated for that price[&:]

it could be the right price if he is ordering it from a dealership....
maybe you should buy the bearing/hub and then take it to the guy and have jim just put it on....then it might save you some money

I live in Bozeman, MT and don't have that many option for auto stores. If i was back home in seattle it would be a different story and i might even do it myself. Plus dad is paying for it and i just want it fixed before i drive home for summer.
