Hi Everyone,

I'm New Here And This Is My First Post. Me and my Dad own a 95 neon 4 door 4cyl. I don't know much about cars but i am a quick learner. But neways Heres My Problem, ever since we got this neon we haven't been able to go with out it breaking down on us. Starts up fine and have no problems till we go a few miles then it starts revvin up on its own like i was sending morse code by pressin on the gas petal, then it starts to sputter and clunkin and dies out. then try to start it, it will keep sputterin and clunkin. then let it sit for about 15-30 mins and try to start it sometimes does the revvin thing again or it will start and we can go again for another few miles
then starts it all over again. I am clueless where to start and would like suggestions on what to check and replace cheeply and easily.

Theres a **** ton of things that it could be. How many miles does the car have?

I would start with injectors, give them a good cleaning, take your IAC and TPS off the throttle body, clean those up real well, check spark plugs, check to see if your plug wires are good. Hopefully its just a dirty sensor or something that wont cost a dime to replace.

Yes Check Engine Light is On And i can't take it anywhere cause the nearest autozone type place is 15 miles away and it take me 2+ hours to get there the way the neon is runing. I replaced the sparkplugs to see if that would fix it cause it had a slight miss in it but it doesn't since i put the new spark plugs buti am still having the same revvin sputterin dyin problem.

 

If your anywhere near Minnesota, I got a few scan tools.... could take a look @ it.

Yea, start with the cheap stuff. Just look at your sensors/injectors. Give everything a good cleaning. How many miles does it have?
