Default New R/T bent valves

I just bought a 1998 neon R/T with a 2.0l DOHC not running. I think it has bent valves due to a brocken timing belt. I am just looking for input on rebuilding the engine and what performace upgrades I should due during the engine overhaul. I want to keep it NA no turbos. Any input would be muchly apperciated. Pistons, cams, cam gears, head, headers, stud kits?

1 - how much do you want to spend

2 - what do you want to have? fun daily driver, something more just for weekends, or something for the strip?

I'm looking for someting that impress people and take out some of the honda's at test and tune night but still be reliable enough to drive to work each day in the summer which is 25 miles each way. As soon as my truck is sold that is my build fund so money should be an object.

Default RE: New R/T bent valves

Thanks for your input and those are some great sites but i am also looking for some input on what combos i could use to make this car perform well but also be streetable enough that my wife wont kill me. I have started taking in apart and the last person who did a timing belt strip the crank pulley bolt damaging the threads in the crank so it looks like i will be doing a complete over haul. also with the valves being bent am i better off getting a performance head or just doin a valve job? Any input from any one would be greatly appeciated.

Thanks

So not be a broken record but how much money are we talking...

I'm going to have to say its time to forget the overhaul and go 2.4...

witch since you have a 2.0 dohc allready you have lots of the parts allready you need to swap... saving you probally 250-300 bucks...

x2 I would have gone 2.4L instead of rebuild this 2.0L if time allowed. better engine over all.

Have some valves for sale if you need 'em.

with a 2.4l swap i would still have to rebuild the 2.4l and would i be better off getting a header and custom intake due to the restrictive nature of the stock dohc ones. plus all the componets on my motor have 140000 miles. my plan was to put a performance head, cams, high compresion pistons (10.6) custom intake (amm), performace pcm, header, and possibly crank if i cant fix the treads on mine. Do you guy recomend replaceing the stack rods also? what kind of clutch shoul I use. If the 2.4L is still the best way to go I have one of my friend who owes a junk yard trying to locate me a low milage one.

I just got back from tearing apart my DOHC, i got the head off and found bent valves on cylender number 1 and 2, I also found both cams and head to be bad both head and cams are deeply gouged. I also found after removing head number 1 piston does not move so i susspect a broken connecting rod. I will be pulling moter out next week.

If you are not pressed for time, I'd look for a 2.4L to replace the busted block you have now. Rebuilding the 2.4 will be cheaper than repairing the 2.0L.
