Default 0-115mph FINALLY!

After seeing what a slouch my car was 2 days ago from 90-100mph I decided to figure out what was wrong, sure enough I had a O2 sensor wirethat was grounding out and blew a #20 fuse and I had an EXTREMLY dirty air filter.

So along with fixing my o2 sensor wire and removing the airfilter I did this video, and holy **** there was a difference! (I also held 2nd gear longer till 5800rpm!)

Here's the results...

You might want to get some gas before you do that again.

But is your car auto or manual?

its an automatic sohc with header and straight exhaust and no air cleaner , I almost ran out of gas there was barely a 32nd of an inch left on the dial after that run and I had to go 5 miles to hit the nearestgas station, never had it that low before. I noticed I hit 85mph around 16 seconds in, gota be the fastest near stock sohc atx1/4 mile time I've ever seen andI didn't even set out to do it, just sorta happened along the way!.

Yeah I was wondering what you had done because it looked alot faster than my manual neon. Even though I have the cluster with no tach, and my speedometer only works half the time.

It was a nice run though.

Wow. Fast and atx ( on an n/a neon) do not mix. At least you are pleased. Now get a 5speed for the ultimate "OH face!"[sm=goodidea.gif][sm=happy046.gif][sm=goodidea.gif]

I know man, I just want a fast fun relaxing car to drive otherwise I would have done the 5 speed swap allready in this one, but I'm looking for a2 door coupe to put a 5 speed beast into. I watch the youtube videosof 5 speed Neons catching rubber near 50mph and I cream myself wishing for a 5 speed Neon that can do that. All in due timeI guess

Notice how that poorsohc had to overcome 2 long azz gears to get to 100mph?

I must say i'm more impressed with3rd geartoday.

Again, as long as you are happy, then great. I know you have heard this before, but it is too true. Numbers do not lie. If you do not boost your neon, all the mods you put on will land you right around a stock mtx car. That just seems very disappointing to me. Most car i can think of do not have such a performance gap between the atx model vs the mtx. Swapping to a mtx shaves about .6 to .8 tenths off 1/4 times. That is huge! Not one bolt on will do that.

Good to see you figured out the problem.

ATXs are slow on acceleration. Get you a 3.94 to put with that SOHC engine and be happy.

damn you!!!! I'm spending my savings on a 5 speed now.

Ghost Neon you say 8-9 tenths? I'M SO THERE!

I give Chevrolet alot of Credit for giving their 122hp cavalier a nice first gear for an automatic. Hell a 4 speed auto would have been great in a Neon.
