Default Anyone know how much to torque a rod cap?
i need to torque my cap on my piston and i cant find the spec anywhere...any help?

ok after you have done plastigage and got NEW connecting rod bolts lube the treads thentighten to 27Nm or 20 ftlb PLUS 1/4 turn

you understand the plus a 1/4 trun right?

these blots are just about the most importantblots in your engine, its important that its done correctly otherwise very bad things can happen.

You turn it another 90 degree turn of the bolt after torqueing it. So just line the wrench up perfect with the block on the right and turn it until it pounts out the front of the car. Easy.

which is why they have to be replaced each time they are used. rod bolts are torque to yield bolts. try to re-use them and they will snap or fail. u can get new ones from the dealership for like 8 bucks total!

Wait what? I thought they head bolts were torwue yeild and nothing else was??? This is news to me!
