I have an oil leak right above the oil filter where the crank case meets the block. I was wondering if you can take the crank case off without taking the motor out of the car. I know I will have to retorque the crank bolts and take off the oil pickup.
100% positive...the crank case is the complete lower section of the block that holds the crank in the engine block...It houses the Main Bearings and is one piece.
kinda sounds like you bedplate is leaking oil. Youll need a anaerobic sealer (http://www.permatex.com/products/aut...ket_makers.htm) becarefull not to use too much as you dont want it going inside the crank case or opening the tolerances on the crank bearings.
fig 23.21 should have the sealant going around the oil filter holes
yes, i know that already...all i was wondering is if there was a way to do this without taking the engine out of the car and spitting it from the tranny...I'm tired of doing that...done had this engine in and out so many times, it'll take me less than 30 min, and I'm kinda lazy after getting home from work every day fixing machines at the paint factory I work at. Looking for the easier way out.
