Default can anyone answer this question???

ok i did a dohc swap in my 97 about a year ago now before i swaped the motor and tranny the tach worked in my bar and the donor car when i swaped it i swaped motor and tranny and computer never seperated motor and trans and put the tach from the donor in mine to keep track of mileage but now the tach does not work and i am wondering why i never disconnected any of the wiring harness off the motor only the plug from the computer and plugs from under the fuze box can anyone tell me how yo get the tach to work i would like to have it working before i swap my 5spd in thanks alot and hope someone can acually help me this time

when you pull the instrument cluster from the dash, it's common for the soldering on the back to break. It breaks on the back side of the circuit board opposite where the harness connects to it.

i am aware of that problem so i tried 3 other clusters i know work and it still don't any other ideas? i appreciate the help i will check the cluster just in case thats the problem when i get my car back

Do any of the gauges work or just the tach doesn't work?

the tach does not work at all i put my original cluster in with a tach that worked before i did the swap and now it doesnt so i put the one from the donor car back in to keep track of mileage

Have you taken a look at the tach wire from the PCM and/or underneath the dashboard?

no i havent i swaped the the pcm from the donor car and i started the motor in the donor before i swaped it and the tack worked and mine worked before i swaped it after it no longer works?? my car is a 97 plymouth and the donor was a 99 plymouth it hasnt worked since the swap its been awhile cuz i cant figure out how to fix it

With either PCM the tach won't work?
