So I've got a 98 rt, dual cam, manual trans, mid midlength header and a 3.0 CAI. I was getting a rattling sound, that appeared to be coming from the head, more towards the cam gears. I thought it was something in the head, So I swapped the heads. Same noise. I had an extra engine laying around, so I decided to swap that in, thinking that maybe I just had two bad heads laying around. Well, the noise is still there, and It's really, really annoying The best way to describe it is kind of like a playing card in the spokes of a bike wheel...ish... It gets louder as the rpm's raise, but it doesnt seem to keep a consistent rhythm with the rpms... Anybody got any ideas? I havent had much time to go investigate to see if something else is rattling, and I plan on doing that later today. So ill post back with some more details/results. Any and all hints, tips, suggestions, things to check would be appreciate, as Im tired of my car sounding like peanut.
Heres a link to the sound in an awful video from my phone.
Nope, its there when I push the clutch in. It also sounds like its coming from the opposite side of the car..
And yeah it sounds like a chattering. I got some advice from the other site, and they said that maybe its the bearing in the alternator? Im getting so sick of this car lol
Well, I know its not the infamous DOHC manifold crak, becuase I had a manifold before, anda header now...could it be the header isnt attached all the way?
