Default Swap SOHC Head to DOHC Head on SOHC Motor?

Is it possible to put a DOHC Head on a SOHC Block? I was reading the SOHC to DOHC Engine Swap but I do no not want to swap the whole motor out. So is the head interchangeable?

Yes they are interchangeable and it will up the compression ratio.

Yes it will bolt right on, but I'm pretty sure you'd have a compression issue. The pistons for SOHC are dished and for the DOHC are domed

Ok, I was wondering because I have a 97 Neon 2.0 SOHC 5 Speed and I would like to Turbo it.

It will just increase your compression. Shouldn't have any clearance issues though. Just increase compression which if you want to turbo, I wouldn't do it.

There are turbos that bolt up to your SOHC head, just so you know.

Stock compression ratio for a SOHC is 9.8:1. Swapping over a DOHC head and leaving the SOHC pistons in the block would drop the compression to 9.3:1, ideal for a turbo.

Really? I heard over on the .org that it would raise the compression. Oh well! lol sry for the wrong information.

Look at it this way, the SOHC head has higher compression than the DOHC head. The DOHC pistons have a higher compression than the SOHC pistons. DOHC head with SOHC pistons equals lower compression.
