hey guys i am new to this forum and am hoping you guys can help me with this project
. so i have a 98 DOHC Neon fully built crane cams, and forged pistons with rods and so on.... so my head started to tick and the noise was starting to get bad on the exhaust side and so i bought a 2.4l head with no more than 75,*** miles from a 99 stratus with the same matching cast #'s and am waiting to swap them out but i am not sure what i need in order to do the swap?? need some help
. will the head be able to be interchanged or did i make a mistake in just buying the head? all i was able to find was the engine swap but nothing about the head swap on a 2.0l block ? well if you guys could help me i would appreciate it and would be extreamly helpful, and would i use the same head gasket set as the 2.0l or do a 2.4l head gasket set?![Icon Poop](https://dodgeforum.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_poop.gif)

2.4 and 2.0 dohc heads are the same. The 2.4 cams are a little weaker then the 2.0's. Sometimes the 2.4 heads will not have the EGR port. Besides that they are they same. Usually 96-99 2.4's are the best candidate for the 1st gen neons because they are the most alike. Get a new head gasket and maybe some arp head studs if you dont have them. I dont re use head bolts, but I will re use head studs.

hey guys, i am deciding whether i should use the 2.4l springs on the head or put my 2.0l springs that i got with the crower stage 4 cams? the springs on the 2.4l head look thicker and mayber stonger, but the springs that i got with the cams look smaller? but i think would work cause of the bigger lobe? i am not sure what to do i am thinking of going with the aftermaket springs?

The 2.0 has a slightly higher lift or duration then the 2.4 which makes the 2.0 cams a better choice. I was under the impression they were the same valve train parts. Either way no stock valve springs should be used with aftermarket cams. Some people say you can get by on light cams, but this is not true! I have seen light/mild cams make valves float. Go with the aftermarket springs and retainers.
