Default 95 Neon Power Issue??? Help!!!

Hi All,

I have 3 Neons 98,96 and 1995. All stock cars. The 95 neon has the least amount of miles on it and looks the best acutally. The problem i'am having is the car don't seem to have the power as the others? It actually seems like it has no power when i accelerate. I checked the cat its not clogged it just seems as if this car doesn't have the pep like the others i own. Only visual difference i see im now a pro is that the air intake looks different on this modle and this one was Mexican. Any idea what is causing this lack of speed & acceleration??

Jim

Do they all have the same number of cams? Do they all have the same tranny? All of them stock?

The '95 didn't come with the "scoop" cover going from the front of the car to the airbox, at least not on the SOHC... Mexican or American built won't make a difference, except for the radiator.

define a tune-up. Did you check the spark plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, oil filter? Any error codes? Tried a bottle of Fuel Injector Cleaner?

Did the 95 suddenly lose power that it had originally?

did tune up include fuel filter, plugs, plug wires?? If so then try a can of sea foam (comes in red and white can at autozone or napa or similar store)

Start the car, remove the vaccuum line from the brake booster, then pour about 1/3 of the contents of the can into it. Promptly turn the car off and let it sit for 10 - 15 minutes. Start it up and run throught he rpm band / go for a drive till it stops smoking. Excessive smoke is normal, DON'T DO IN GARAGE.

I first thought my 96 neon was a real dog, and this stuff and along with aforementioned parts really helped it out.

I'd start looking on the tranny end then. I'm definitely not an auto tranny guy though... Fluid and belts and whatnot. Shops here only charge $30-40 for an auto tranny tune-up.

LOL, where do you live??? A fluid flush and fill with a filer is $75 here. A band ajustment is another charge jhsut for the record, ususally $100+
