Ok so my friend was like Hey lets go to the track today and run time trials. i was like YAY i can know what my car runs now! Now the juicy stuff. My first run went as expected. (for an auto in the 1/4 mile) 18.8 i expected something like that. My next run. 19.1 i was like WTF!!!! And my final run. EFFIN 21.3 WHAT THE HELL!!!! my last run it sort of felt like a misfire here and there, or like floating valves... i dont know. But ever since i put a new cam in it has felt like my valves are floating or im misfireing, And its not frequent, its whenever the car gets mad at me or something. What could cause a 3 second difference in an auto? (same track same lane all 3 runs) Im kinda Pissed. (underdrive pulley hopefully will be on by the weekend!)

 

What were your 60ft times on the 3 runs?

 

in same order 2.97, 2.95, 3.29 (i was happy to see a first gen out doing low 13s first run)

 

SOHC or DOHC? Those aren't terrible 60 ft times for an auto, but the 1/4 mile times.....whoa! Is the engine running good with good compression and so on?

 

What are your reaction times?

 

Huzzah im going to the track on the 6th!!! I hop I do better than 18

 

You Definatly will if you have a MTX and know how to shift for racing you will beat 18s, My R/ts were all like .992 (my first ever time at a track), And its SOHC, i just checked the compression the other day its right around 155 for all 4. I have a Regrind cam, WAI, A custom exhaust with only a resonator and some tips, My tranny was rebuilt less than a year ago ($1200 thats why im sticking with auto), my head gasket was replaced last summer and everything was shined up (no P&P though). So there it is my car is mad at me.

 

Try installing a shift kit and take a look at this site for some ATX help...

almost sounds like some type of heat soak prob to me. how long do you let the motor run/cool down between runs? have any codes, like maybe the conveter lock-up solenoid? i'd like to know what you find, good luck.

 

ya ive been to that site, (i have it bookmarked) I also have the normal code saying my cat is bad...its out) My first run was like 4 min before my second and about the same for the 3rd run, But when i run on the streets i am running almost constatnly!
