a cable clutch manual will never down shift if you jam on the brakes. All you will do is stall. I can see Maybe if it was a hydrolic clutch that shared the fluid from the brakes, then drop the shifter a gear. Regardless, a manual transmission will not change gears unless you do it with the shifter.

**EDIT**

After re-reading what you wrote and scratching my head trying to figure out what you are saying, it sounds like you are refering to rev-matching which would allow you to downshift with out the clutch... if thats not what you mean then you need to translate a lil.

yeah im kinda stumped on that one

sice i got my new r/t ive been a little better on the transmissions....there were two things that helped contribute to my problmes with my last r/t....1 was the fact that the first time i ever drove a mtx was the day i drove the car off the lot i got it from...2 was that i went from driving a 1979 dodge aspen 6cyl with no kickdown at all....to a 95 sohc auto neon....to that beast of an r/t.....

my car now has 141,000 miles on it with the original trans and motor...and original clutch......i dont know how the clutch is lasting this long being i do alot of stop and go's for my jobs....but it still works great.....
but when i get the turbo and NOS on it.....then im sure i will need a new clutch

oh and on my first neon i blew out 2 motors....one from the timing belt breaking a few days after i got it....then about a month later from going down a road that i didnt realize was under about 4 feet of water.....luckily(i guess) i was goin fast enough for no water to get inside the car......just in the motor[:@]

i wish i still had pics of the motor i pulled out of the r/t....and one of the transmissions.....but i atleast kept the piston and connecting rod from the motor for a conversation piece

sud you the man lol

ok so about the downshifting i know it not rev matching
i only remember the video a little
ok so to the best of my knowledge the guy down shifted some how so mybe this will help
how can you downshift other then clutching and downshifting or rev matching ? is that a lttle bit clearer
ok now i am still looking for a cheap clutch i started looking on ebay and they have like 1,2 and 3 stage clutches i dont know what to choose
or if i should even choose one from ebay. im still loveing that dual friction clutch if i can it i can be a *** hole even when i dont want to lol oyea i might get a new job so ill be working two jobs so i am thinking junk in tha trunk[sm=bling.gif] but i want my trunk to still be usable so i have to make a custom box right? i want it to fit just in my trunk. there are atleast one curve in there so what wood is flexiable enough to bend. em i on the right track when i think about plywood like that thing that they use for model planes?

a good custom box can only be done with fibreglass. If you use thin plywood it will sound like crap. The only other way to down shift is to jam it into the previous gear. There are no other ways that I know of.
