i have accidently over reved my engine a few times
and usually when i race i hit my redline (65)

but you dont hit peak until 6 grand

dont race on the freeway
it's ****in stupid

but if theres no one on the streets
and yoru rolling
check your rpms
down**** to the lowest gear you can without it redlining and ****in go
ill tell you my own experience...

one night my friend aaron and i were driving down this really long straight road that cops are on all the time cause people like me race on it all teh time
this road is where i first raced and whooped the **** a supped up civic and hte people followed me and wanted to beat my ***
but my story
so aaron and i were driving and this white scion tC starts pullin up to me so i downshift from 4th to 3rd and get away while he is trying to catch up
i coudl hear his exhaust
at the light he had to get behind me cause there was a huge truck next to us
just to **** around i took off at the light (not launched)
and this little tC did the same thing
but i still whooped his *** both times

it all depends

learn your shift points

and push your car to see how much it can handle
which neons can handle a lot
and i heard the sohc were built a lot more durable than the dohc

well...my Neon was babied its whole life...as in never saw above 3500rpms...till i got it lol... and its seen 6500rpms and such at its old age...little scared that it might blow but it has yet to do it...and thats with almost 240k on it... so all depends...i think the engine can take abuse...if properly cared for...except mine wasn't cared for lol...one time when i was younger it went about 30,000 without changing the oil... bad idea...but the car still ran fine and still does.

If i bought the longtube header and p&p intake how much better of a chance would I have?

damn!

thats kinda bad...hahahah

just check everything
and if everything is fine ****in go for it

mine is i think 300miles away from 240,000

my dad is a master mechanic (no joke, hes done it literally his whole life and has a degree, hahah)
all we've had to change was the clutch i think once
and then the head gasket once
but we're putting a new one on next month
then i get my cai and possibly a new header

but you might as well get cams while your at it and the ATX TB and either find an ice man cai or build one yourself

i dont see how you cant beat a b16 already...
a b18 has around 140 hp and 120 tq
wth?
you just have to get better at racing from a rolling start first

and hte only reason i know so much about hondas is because my girlfriend has a four door civic ex, my best friend has an eg6 si, his girlfriend has an acura legend v6 and my other friend has an integra LS

headers dont do much to hondas
and neither do exhausts or intakes
hahahahah

Depends on which B18 you are talking about:
B18C1=170HP
B18C5=195HP
B18A1=130HP
B18B1=140HP

im surprised my car has lasted as long as it has....seriously, if anyone knew how i actually drove it......i hit the rev limiter alot, just for the hell of it....but after driving it as much as i do, i can usually catch it right before it kicks in.....
here is an idea....if you catch the gear right before the limiter has a chance to kick in, you can get an extra little jump outta it....you will notice it when its done right....
my car gets a horrible beating...i have a rule when downshifting to race sumbody, or just pass them.....i dont downshift into second when im goin over 40 mph...40 is my limit....i dont downshift into 3 if im goin over 70.....but i try and keep it about 65......if you do 65 down the road and jump straight into third, then the car will take off like a rocket....i know it isnt good to skip gears, but my car loves it and its got 143,000 miles....but i show it no mercy....and it hasnt been driven nicely a day in its life....especially since the previous owner used it for autocross.....i just cant believe it has held up as good as it has

the neon motors...mostly the DOHC were built for revving high.....if i try to drive mine nicely, it doesnt seem to wanna move

yea das your right

but most honda tuners have the B18 with 140hp because it comes from a stock LS

and i hit hte rev limiter a lot too!
i like ****in around and i like to hear that little pop of the muffler, hahahah

but i dont think i can ge 65 in 2nd gear with my sohc...

when im doin 40 i usually downshift to 2nd if im trying to pass someone or race

but when im crusing, i usually redline or hit 5 grand then just skip 3rd and go straight to 4th

no neon neon other then the srt4 can get 65 in second gear
