Default compression gauge necessary......

for TDC placement? It seems like it isn't although Haynes says it is. Also, I've got a ton of oil on my alternator, splash shield, everywhere in that general area. It seems its the cam seal, right? So I guess I'll be doing the t-belt,water pump also. I guess I need the t-belt and what else(tensioner pulley kit)? Advance auto parts sells the t-belt by itself only. Any particular brands to avoid or get?

to find TDC you can use a long screwdriver with the plug removed. watch close and you will notice the screwdriver stops moving at the highest point while the crank still moves. find the mid-piont of this area, you will be at TDC or 180 out. if your chaning the t-belt you will find the mark for TDC. i'd change the valve cover/sparkplug tube gasket set as well. make sure the filter is on tight too. good luck.

you forgot a necessary step....you need to put the screwdriver down in the sparkplug hole so that the end sits on the piston
i use a wooden dowl rod or a steel rod

A lifetime warranty just means the belt will last you a hundred kay miles, whoop de do if you have a bad brand that actually breaks and they give you a new belt, leaving you the cost of new engine parts when the belt breaks.

Which brand of belt were you considering?

There's Goodyear for 30$, Drive Rite for a few more and Beck/Arnley topping out at 75$. Also Dayco for 36$ for the cam belt tensioner pulley(I guess I'll need this too)?
