Transaxle is another name for transmission. The Kickdown screw is located under the battery tray.

so twisting the ones facing the cooling fans won`t do anything to help the problem?
was looking at the diagram and kick down apply and kick down relese has adjustments according .... the kickdown one is ontop the transmission/ transaxle?
will adjusting it help it go into gear?? the cables for the shifter and all seem fine, fluid is ok and it slips into reverse after the gas pedal is applied...and drive kind of engages but not enough to really propel the car..if u let off the gas on flat land it`ll roll but not with any speed... i`m so lost with this stupid car...lol

Not sure what you are talking about twisting. Been a while since I looked at an ATX. Adjusting the bands should help if they are the problem.

i`m referring to that part with the lock nut u mentioned before thats on top/ front of the transmission/transaxle.. the kickdown band adjusting screw...moving that will most likely cause it to engage?

That depends on your skill level. A first timer can get it swapped in a weekend. Pro's can do it in about an hour or so.

The 3-speed ATX on the neons is great and extremely reliable if taken care of properly. It has a reputation for being bulletproof.
