Transmission Problems
99 dodge neon with 105k miles here.. auto transmission
never had a problem til recently.. stopped at a light and went to pull out on green and my car would not budge, reverse works but putting the car in D,2 or, 1 just doesn`t do anything..there where no shifting problems before that at anytime, a few days later after i had it towed home, it will go into drive but once u hit the gas or put it on any sort of incline it acts like it doesn`t have a drive gear..and when placed in Reverse and u press the gas it`ll move but let off and it wants to stop and cuts out again.. fluid levels are fine..so what could be the problem here? i`m so stumped!!

I think its safe to say the trans probly just finally gave up...
When was the last time it was serviced? A filter doesnt ever clog magically like that, usually one that goes all of the sudden is done for. You could try pulling the pan off and see what you find in there.Might have blown a gasket internally on the valve body, or a valve inside stuck. Im not much into the internals of an auto.

well it was driving fine, we had alot of snow and ice here in northeast pa a week ago and i heard it bumpin under the cra but it was fine.. fluid/ filter and gasket changed last fall... hasn`t been that long, the old one was all caked in gunk and stuff and it acted up alittle with delayed shifts before i serviced it.. but now its just hesitating to fully go in drive.
would a park safety switch cause it not to work? because i can pull it out of park without a key in or not and without my foot on brakes

fluid levels are ok... and connections are all in on wiring to the trans.

I'm leaning towards the valve body then. You can adjust the kickdown and reverse bands and see it that helps you out. The kickdiwn band is easy, but the reverse band requires you to drop the pan.
how would i make those adjustments?
on flat land if u put this car in drive, it`ll roll in drive... but if u hit the gas it kicks out of drive and when u let off the gas it`ll roll again unless u come to any sort of incline (like my driveway) and in reverse u have to hit the gas 4 it to engage but once it does it has no problem other than a slight rumble once in awhile which the dealer said awhile ago was a mount... but how do i adjust this thing?
pleaseeee tell me its not the transmission going bad i actually like this little dodge alot...lol

KICKDOWN BAND (FRONT)
The kickdown band adjusting screw is located on left side (top front) of the transaxle case.
(1) Loosen locknut and back–off nut approximately five turns. Test adjusting screw for free turning in
the transaxle case.
(2) Using wrench, tighten adjusting screw to 8 N·m (72 in. lbs.).
(3) Back–off adjusting screw 2-1/4 Turns. Hold adjusting screw in this position and tighten locknut to 47 N·m (35ft. lbs.)
LOW/REVERSE BAND (REAR)
To adjust low/reverse band, proceed as follows:
(1) Loosen and back off locknut approximately five turns.
(2) Using an inch-pound torque wrench, tighten adjusting screw to 5 N·m (41 in. lbs.) true torque.
(3) Back–off adjusting screw 3-1/2 Turns.
(4) Tighten locknut to 14 N·m (10 ft. lbs.)
Check your throttle linkage and gearshift linkage as well.
