RE: Turboing a 97 DOHC??
yeah this is my second attempt at a powerful car so I wanna do everything right this time. Last time I had a Ford Probe GT. My motto now is "Mopar or No Car". But yeah I want alot of HP so I will make sure to have them to balance the crank. How long does all that usually take?

RE: Turboing a 97 DOHC??
the guy told me that after they drop off my crank, if the shop isnt busy, they might have it back in a couple weeks....possibly sooner..
but my whole motor should be done hopefully by the begining of may

So to do all the work on the engine we were talking about earlier it would take a couple of weeks or just to balance the crank?

RE: Turboing a 97 DOHC??
there are too many factors for me to give you a good answer about that....you just have to talk to a shop and see...
depends on if the shop needs to send it out to get done or if they do it themselves...
depends on how busy the shop, or both shops are
depends if the shop does alot of work on 4 cylinders
depends if you have all the parts needed
depends if your crank is in good enough shape for them to balance or if it needs to be turned

i dont want you to think im being an *** or anything, but no one can tell you how long its gonna take or how much its gonna cost unless they live in the same area as you and know the shop you will take it too
the shops up by me are completely different then any shops by you, so i cant give you an answer on how long it will take YOU to have it done....only how long its gonna take ME

RE: Turboing a 97 DOHC??
like i said....your best bet is to call up a few shops and see what they will charge
just dont half *** anything...otherwise its just gonna cost you more in the future

when i took my motor in, i told the guy to just do whatever needs to be done......i dont care what it is or how much it cost, just do it because i spent alot of money on pistons and dont want anything to go wrong
so i really dont know what the final price is gonna be, i guess it all depends on what he decideds to do to it.....hopefully its not too much over a grand
and be sure not to rush the people at the shop....they really hate that and then they might not do as good of a job as they could

RE: Turboing a 97 DOHC??
when i first put the turbo on my car a few monthes ago i kinda half-assed a few things.....now the car sits in the driveway(hopefully in the garage tonight) and the motor sits in shop.....i decided that im not gonna half-*** anything on this car anymore......thats why in the past 2 monthes i must have spent sumwhere around 3-4 grand atlaest on this thing, between the motor work, pistons, rods, all new suspension, and a bunch of other stuff that sits on a shelf in the garage just waiting to be installed
