Default 93 d250 will run for 10 mins then shut off

I hope someone can help me.... I’ve been working on a 93 d250 2wd with a 318 auto truck. It runs for about 10 mins or gets to operating temperature then shuts off like you turned the key off then won’t restart until you let it cool off for a hour or so. I have replaced asd relays, cam sensor, crank sensor, spark plugs, coil, cap and rotor, throttle position sensor, idle air control valve. Fuel pressure reads 38 - 40 psi when running. I’m thinking I got a bad part. Another thing is I thought these trucks had to have a cam sensor signal in order to run But I unplugged the cam sensor/distributor and the truck still runs. Is that normal?

Are you getting any codes? When it stops running you need to see what's not there spark-fuel.

i forgot to mention that... it’s missing spark when it stops running and I have verified the ecm stops sending ground to the asd relay when the truck stops running.

Something is getting hot, and failing. I think all that is left is the PCM........

I am not sure if it will start with the cam sensor unplugged, but, once it gets clued in to where the engine is at initially, it should be able to keep up. Now if you had an erratic cranks sensor signal as well, it would probably start running really crappy, really fast, and quit in pretty short order. But, those aren't your symptoms.

I agree. I’m thinking about swapping the crank sensor one more time. Other than that I think it’s down to replacing the pcm unfortunately

Get a mopar crank sensor. The aftermarket fellers don't always work as well as they should.

thanks for the advice. I have a factory mopar crank sensor on the way it will be here Tuesday. Will update with what happens. If this doesn’t fix it I think I’m going to replace the ecm. I have no other ideas. It seems to turn off when it reaches operating temperature. Then just cranks no start until I let it cool down. Sounds like a typical frank sensor issue to me from other vehicles I’ve worked on but I’ve put 2 crank sensors in it now and I’ve been told this truck has had starting issues for years now so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the ecm. When I say starting issues it would crank and not start. But! When I changed the factory crank sensor it had a big crack in it so who knows maybe I’m just getting junk crank sensors. I’ll pray!

If anyone else has a 92/93 could you start the truck and unplug the pick up coil in the distributor and tel me if the truck shuts off. Everything I read claims the truck can not run without the pick up coil but that isn’t true from what this truck is doing.
