Default tranny?

I have an 89' dodge w/ a three speed auto/42rh. Does anyone know if a 727 or a 904 would swap with it? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

You would need other 3speed, the 904 is a 4speed auto and you would need the wire harness and pcm for it.

i hear bad things of the mopar crate motors! if you buy one, take it apart and make sure it is assembled correctly and make sure it is clean.....

You guys have it backwards. The 42rh is a 4sp auto rear drive hydraulic w/lockup,and the 904 is the 3sp auto with or without lockup depending on model. No harness for the 904 unless you have a lock/up style with one wire plug rear of case driver's side(very simple).
