well gentlemen, i think i found the problem. I removed my computer because i noticed the fusible links were missing and some of the wires were soldered together after i cut open the wiring harness. ANyway, upon looking at the computer and taking the cover off the wax filling inside it that protects everything was no longer transparent and was dry cracked all over the place. Only one place was still crystal clear. SOOO here is the experiment to see if my cold problems were from my computer. I left the truck outside in ten degree weather all complete. Ran like crap, spit sputtered etc. So then i parked it in my 70 degree garage for the night, letting it get nice and toasty. Next morning, take it out and drive it, thing runs smooth and fine without a single hesitation. Hmm, okay its been doing this. Now, i leave the truck outside to get cold and keep the computer inside in seventy degree temp, hook it back up and drive it, runs fine without a problem. Okay... Now i put the truck inside the garage and throw the computer in the freezer, which is around twenty or so degrees, for three hours, hook it back up and try it. The truck spit sputtered and wouldn't run worth a damn when it was in gear. So, it seems that this computer is my problem. I hope this helps some other dodge owner before they go sinking in 2500 in parts that may or may not have been part of the problem. Hopefully this fixes it. I'm running out of patience.

The part# of the computer should be on the old one...you will need this to get the correct rebuilt one from the parts store.

well i put the new ECM in. Doesn't run worth a ****. Runs exactly the same as it did before. I'm out of ideas for this truck. I'm am however now THOROUGHLY convinced that Chrysler engineering is as ruckamuck as everyone (including chrysler certified mechanics) say it is. I've replaced everything on this truck and it just fails to run right. God bless anybody patient enough to own a dodge. This will be my last one.

the problem you are experiencing are best known for the older used models. I had a 1972 1/2 ton utility for a while with the slant 6..no , I never took pics [:@]...any way, i did all kinds of intake, head, and manifold work. it never ran right once the temps dropped.

I swore off Dodges as well tillI bought this Cummins powered truck

it has been hacked up in the electrical under the hood and dash, have had to replace a few parts , but otherwise its a great truck!

plus, I have a great Dodge guy I get help from

Yet another update. I know i'm getting pissed off, but i've yet to give up on the ole hunk of junk. The new computer as i stated actually made the truck run worse. So, i started doing some serious computer research when i stumbled on something. I typed in the part number on the ecm that was in the truck when i bought it. The part listing on two mopar websites and one regular part stores is showing that to be the ecm with a manual transmission. One big problem with that. My truck is an automatic. I'm wondering, because the previous owner had problems because all the fusible links were removed and the wires were soldered together. So.... i'm guessing something fried the computer and instead of replacing the links, he just soldered the wires together and got a computer out of a junk yard from an 88 truck that was most likely a stick shift, therefore putting the wrong computer in the truck. Makes sense maybe? I have a few dodge reps that are suppose to call me tomorrow to see if this makes any sense and why the computer for my auto dodge is coming up in their system as a manual. Is there a glimmer of light i'm seeing? Maybe this dodge will be on the road one more time. Thanks for reading. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated.

Yeah, i know, its me again. Here is a minor update. I ordered the computer straight from mopar this evening instead of relying on a parts store. Actually ended up paying thirty bucks less, go figure. Anyway, i'm hoping this will fix the problem. Given the amount of troubleshooting i did pulling the computer, heating it, taking it off, running it cold and the truck responding the way it did it can't be nothing else, right? thats what i would think. We will soon see. Thanks for bearing with me. And who knows, maybe if i ever get this beast running, i might drive out to arizona and get my free beer.
