engine idel problem(vacuum leak)
well......my boss has a 91 ram with the 318 and it has about 225,000 miles on it and its starting to show its inner(im gonna crap out) looks....some days the truck runs great, but others it will idel up to 30 MPH without touching the gas pedal and others it will die from not giving it enough.......so he brought it in and got it checked and a code said it was a vacuum leak near the MAF sensor....hes replaced all the lines that he could see from under teh hood and he cannot figure out what is worng.....hes wantign to get it to run decent so he can trade it on a 93 ram 4x4 with 120,000 miles less..........any ideas what could be wrong???
Magnum engines don't have MAF sensors. The MAP sensor is on the back side of the throttle body. No hose going to it-just a stubby piece of rubber that connects it to the manifold.
Here are some other things to check for. Make sure the EGR valve is okay, check the air filter to make sure it is clean. Check the fuel pressure to make sure the pump is working okay. Check the cold advance solenoid valve and the fast idle control solenoid valve.
