The mine'll outpull yours 1996ram318/lugnuts thread
Ain't no way in hell a cam intake and headers is worth 215 hp an' a 130lb/ft. of torque. The police 4bbl 318 was rated @ 155hp/240 lb/ft torque. For my 360 on the other hand, the specification book says:
"Unable to give torque/HP ratings for 360 cubic inch 2bbl engine. Massive torque only 300 RPM above idle broke the dynomometer." Fear me.

I also port matched and polished the heads. And I guarantee that is worth alot of horsepower. I based it on a 400 hp 318 build I read about online. The only thing is that I didn`t put larger valves in it. But I`m guessing an honest 370. And that thing you call a motor couldn`t even turn the rollers on a dyno. But I would be willing to take a trip to a dyno and compare any time you are ready.
Sure, let me "freshen" mine a little. It had leaves and sticks in the lifter valley, was too "worn out" to suit the old rancher that had it. Paid $200,cleaned it out, replaced the valve stem seals, runs good. Good enough to spin all four 35-12.5s anyhow. More power than traction is useless, any more is just racket. I'd guess yours to be closer to 275 tops. That's being generous at a 125 hp gain with stock compression and 318 heads, polished or no. Which is still 100 more than a fresh stock 360 4bbl. lol.
All of which don't mean squat, I'm still gonna drag ya from hell to breakfast. And back.

I want more power than traction so I can do big burnouts. But only in 2WD. The reason a stock 318 is so underpowered is because of the intake and carb/TBI. The Edelbrock intake and 600 cfm carb help it alot. And the stock exhaust manifolds are too restrictive. And probably I have a little too much cam, but I have some plans down the line. I would guess that it`s in the 350-375 range I just like to go with the high number. And you couldn`t drag that Ramcharger I have with no motor in it.
When I get a windshied and exhaust system, I can drive it there and back. Except that the gas milage would kill me, but it would be worth it. And the exuberance of youth is counteracted by the old farts of the world. PTTTTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Jealousy of my youthful creativeness in building my truck will get you nowhere.
No, there ain`t no lies being told in here. I also would like to sell the London bridge. I really do think I am well north of 300. I picked out my parts combo for a reason. I had this in mind. The only thing that could hold it back is stock valves. And I don`t turn it that fast. But I also built it for low end torque. I wanted a good pulling motor. I really would say 350-370 though.
Hey looky there fellers! It's snowin' in hell. Hp= TORQUExRPM/5252 Takes 365lb/ft@5300 to make 368 hp. Unless you spin it faster. Takes 325 lb/ft @ 6000 to make 371. Maybe you should work for a race shop portin' heads if you can get the '88 318 head to flow that kinda air @ .450 lift with stock valves. Hell do my heads too wouldja?
