Default Would love help. Engine swap questions

We have a 88 Ramcharger that needs a new engine. I have located a 95 1500 with a 360 in it and need the following info.

On this swap I am planning on swapping the intake for a carb but was wondering if the heads on this motor are cracked like I have read will the older heads of a 88 model work

If the original heads are ok will my 88 model intake bolt onto the newer heads. If it doesn't what model intake do you all suggest?

That 95 has Magnum heads, the intakes won`t interchange. Did your truck have a 360 in it already? I have a complete 318 in an 85 Ramcharger I would be willing to sell.

- it should go weather its a 360 or 318 i believe the motor mounts are identical, as long as they are both LA blocks and not magnum

If I remember right, the right side motor mount and torque converter are different for a 318.

The '88 heads will physically bolt to a magnum block, but the magnum block lacks the oil passage from the cam brgs to oil the rockers. Not sure if AMC lifters and hollow pushrods would do the trick or not. The valvetrains are two different animals. The '88 heads don't flow worth a damn anyhow, be a step backwards.
Mopar Perfomance makes the Magnum swap flexplate, the balance is different than early 318/360s.

AMC lifters are fine. there is a great article on this here

edebrock has a kit to do this. but its like 1200 bucks. A little more will get you a crate 318 with 300hp.

Yeah that's for Magnum heads on an early block. He's wanting to swap early heads onto a Magnum block if his Magnum heads are cracked. The early engines oil the rockers/shaft via the oil passage in the block. The Magnum rockers are stud mounted. I'll have to dig up an early rocker arm and take a look at the pushrod cup. If the oil hole's in the wrong place it could effectively seal the hole in the pushrod. The early cup was splash lubed, hence the hole may be closer to the shaft relatively speaking, instead of more verticle, and lining up with the hole in the pushrod during part of the valve cycle.
Plus pushrod length may not be correct, Magnum's and '88s are both roller cam, but the rocker assm. are totally different. Somebody somewhere has probably done this swap, just never seen anything on it,never done it myself.
