Default Best replacement shocks for 2wd daily driver?

1984 D250 camper special

I currently have some rusty things up front and some weird coilover things in the rear.

Truck will never be used to tow or be loaded up with anything more than a garden tractor.

It's my daily driver.

What are the best shocks to put in it?

I was leaning towards Rancho shocks. Anyone run them?

Hi,

I have never used the Rancho shocks, but i would stay away from the cheaper Gabriel and Monroe shocks, and i have heard alot of negative feed back with those shocks.
A good brand is and which i have personally used in the KYB's.

Hope this helps.

Yah I heard those $20 Monroe auto parts stores ones were junk.

KYB Gas-a-just I would imagine is what you're talking about correct?

Since the factory shocks were replaced my truck has had Monroes on it its whole life with good results but I don't buy cheap ones. You get what you pay for.

When I go to order 84 D250 shocks they ask if I have the HD or not.

I have no idea! It's the camper special and has those coilover things in the back, does that make it the HD?

I live a long way from the parts store so I need to make sure I have the right parts when I get home. I would think they are both the same except for piston and/or shaft diameter and the HDs might have the helper springs. Have the parts guy pull both so you can see them. If you can't tell by sight which are correct I would buy them both and compare them to what you remove from the truck. Then return the wrong ones for a refund. Do not cut the plastic keeper straps on the wrong ones or they won't take them back.

I Would take a guess that you do have a heavy duty setup, being for a camper and all... but SEAL is right, either look at em at the store and if there is an obvious differance, buy what looks right, and if not, buy a set of HD, and 1 regular take em home and compare...

Hmm... the stores around here don't have KYB. I can get a set of 4 KYB GR2 from ebay for $100 shipped.

Wonder if I can measure to find the difference or something.
