Question New To Dodge

I recently bought a 1986 Dodge ram 150. It runs good but the wiring is all messed up. Everything works like it should except all my back lights and my radio. I backed it up on car ramps and started looking around under it and its clear that rodents have been chewing on the wires and chewed through some of them. So I was wondering what i should do first? Oh and all the bulbs are good and when you put the hazards on they work fine but my brake lights and turn signals don't work right. Any help would be great.

yeah i think that was the frist thing i did but ill check and make sure tonight. Ill feel like a real idot if thats what was worng. But i dont think so... I think its a short some where. Because ill have brake lights when the trucks running and i dont have the head lights on.But if I turn the headlights on i dont have brake lights. And when i turn my left blinker nothing happens but when i turn my right blinker on they both flash. Also if I have my headlights on and turn my right blinker on they will both still flash but its alot dimmer. Well theres a little more info. Once agin anyhelp would be great.

should like someone might have mixed up a few wire and you might have a bad ground. you should check to see if someone has replaced the turn signal sockets. they might have messed up the wires.

i would still be checking all the socket to make sure none of them where replaced and wired wrong. i know i wire the front left turn signal on my truck wrong and it caused problems with my left rear signal when the headlights were on.

Do all of the front lights work like they are supposed to? (parking, hazards, turn signals, and dash blinkers)

yeah everthing in the front works like its should. In the dash you know how your blinker will flash really fast if a lights out? Well mine will flash really slow and even slower when the headlights are on.

If every thing up front works the fuses and flashers are good. The problem is going to be in the rear wiring or sockets. It sounds like you have a short between the signals and parking lights. With rust in the sockets I think you will find a short in that socket under the contact plate where the spring is.
