Well im with the guys talking about getting it running good. Do your tune up, maybe have the carb looked at and maybe adjusted, fix the belts, just routine maintinance. I have a 225 slant six in my 82. Did a full tuneup, it was running rich and wouldnt pass deq so i got the carb adjusted. Passed and also had better response and my mileage went from 11mpg city to 18.1mpg city. After i passed deq i cuz the muffler off about an inch before the front muffler hangar and cut the last elbow to the tip of the tail pipe off and bolted it on. It comes out about a foot behind the cab. It sounds good and throaty but im getting a cherrybomb. Youd be surprissed how well a stock engine runs if its been taken care of. Mine has only 95hp. So be happy youre in the 100's hp. lol

Alrighty will do with all of those kinda things. I'm getting some a/t or m/t put on this week or next, and that ought to make it a little taller and meaner, not to mention better traction. Thanks for all the tips. Now just tell me what yall think about my custom/temporay interior looks.

Sounds like your new to wrenching. My two cents. Start reading ! Get a manual read it cover to cover then do it again. Then go get more stuff to read !
The older American cars and trucks are a great thing to learn on because their just not that complex. Just pop the hood on a Spica injected Alfa you"ll see what I mean. But you still have to know what your doing.
Fix that tranny first! You'll learn how to do it with all the reading.
And with your budget I'd be watching the mpg.

I like the saddle blanket seat cover. Where did you get it?
Mine is two pieces and the bottom slides all over when you get in. Bobbyz made a good point about reading. One thing I got for my 82 is a factory service manual. Your best bet is eBay. I got mine for $28 new. It's what the dealerships used and has everything. Very useful has wiring diagrams exploded parts all the trannys for your truck and will tell you how to service it. I noticed amazon was way more expensive so go with eBay. I looked for you there is currently one 86 manual for sale it's used. All manuals will cover D and W along with 150, 250, 350 and ramcharger. So there will be things that don't apply to your truck.

You get what you pay for. I got a 2 piece that looks like that, only in blue, from J.C. Whitney and I love it. Paid a bit more than some for it but it stays in place, has pockets under your knees and behind the seat, and a riffle scabbard back there to. It is also about 18 years old.

Alrighty, ill check into the whole manual thing. Thanks for the complement, took about a day and a half to take off all the stuff, paint it, wait for it to dry, and then put it back on. As for the seat cover, i got it on ebay for 50 bucks, brand new. They are all the same except where you see red, you can choose a different color. It works great and comfortable. It has the pockets under the knees, comes with ties to tie it down, and i dont have any problems with it sliding. Only thing that ever happens with me is the seat belt deal slipping inside of it and me having to dig a little. Just go to ebay and search, bench seat cover. Look for a picture of a cover like mine and it should have a little color panel to choose from.
