on non AC equipped vehicles, how are the belts arranged? is there a different pulley arrangement? how would you go about deleting the AC compressor and re-route the belts? mine seems to be making a clacking noise similar and i sure as hell don't want it to seize up...i already have enough problems as it is...
usually there is a pulley where the ac pump would be but you can run 1 shorter belt from the main pulley to the alternator. you could try oiling the moving parts on the compressor to make sure it don't seize up.
this was the pulley that was on my 91 which has no ac
that bracket came off of a 91 with a 3.9l but it will bolt onto a 5.2. i think you would have to find one used off a truck without ac which is why i also said you could run a belt from the pulley on the crank to the alternator. i think the belt you would need to do that would have to be a bit longer than you power steering belt.
i THINK that you only need the middle part there thats held on by the 3 bolts that actually holds the pulley. I got this part off of a late 80s v6 dakota. I think I should be able to use it with my current bracket and belt when my pulley bites the dust. For now, my AC pulley has almost zero drag, so its staying.
It seems that the ac pulley doesnt drag, but AC compressor makes a clacking sound somewhat. Knowing that its the same bracket on the 6cyl, gives me more options. Thanks!
done. took a minute though, one tricky bolt (and a HOT intake...) gonna make a block off plate at work to cover where the hoses went into the firewall. tryin to clean it up under the hood...gettin there...

What is the part called that replaces the A/C compressor? Where would I find one?
