Default How to tell fuel tank size in 91 D-150?

I've got a new to me 91 D-150 Club Cab long bed that has the 'normal' Dodge fuel gauge problems, probably caused by the sender on the fuel pump. Because the gauge is inop I've been fueling every 150 miles or so (it's a 5.9 so it likes it's gas), but if it's a 30 gallon tank I could run it a little further, plus I'd have more cushion on road trips, one of which I'm about to take. Does anybody have the measurements (I'm assuming mainly length, the shape is probably pretty much the same otherwise) for either a 22 or 30 gallon tank in their truck so I can compare and see what I have? It LOOKS like a LOOONNGG tank, longer than the 18-20 gallon Ford and Chevy's I'm used to, but I'm not too good at estimating how much it will hold. Thanks!

Im pretty sure 30 is the normal. My dad has a 92 D150 regular cab and it has a 30 gal tank. I have a 92 w150 reg cab and it has a 30 gal tank. Both gas gauges work just FYI.

Next time Im near my truck Ill measure it for you unless someone else beats me too it

My truck is supposed to have a 22 gal tank. But I've put 25 in it, also just fyi. So either the gas station screwed me over, and I only got 22 gallons, or I have a 30 gallon tank, and when my gauge is on "walk", I still have 5 gallons left.

Default Fuel tank size?

Comrade, I'd appreciate it if you could get those measurements. I'm currently trying the 'Techron trick' to see if I can cure my sending unit problems (or at least make it better), and I dosed the tank as if it were a 30 gallon. We'll see if it works, worth the try anyway. Thanks!

from what i have found there are 22, 24 and 36 gallon tanks. i have not really found anything that mentions 30 gallon tanks but that is probably where it shows it is empty so that you have another 6 gallons to make it to a gas station. i always carry a jerry can with about 2 gallons of gas in it since my gas gauge don't work but i know how my truck acts when it is pretty much empty.

i think you might have a 36 gallon tank because i have a 22gallon tank in my backyard from my 91 and it is only 47 inches long by about 11 inches wide.

Default Gas tank

OK, if you're sure the tank you have is a 22 gallon, then I know mine is longer than that, mine's closer to five feet at least. But I see by your sig line that you have a shortbed, did the shortbed use a 22 gallon or smaller? I know on Chevy, the shortbeds used a 16 gallon tank instead of the standard 20. Just wondering if Dodge is the same way....
